What's the difference between a sole trader/partnership and a company?
A sole trader is an individual in business who is personally responsible for the debts and liabilities of that business. A partnership is two or more individual in business together, who are personally responsible for the debts and liabilities of that business. A limited company takes on a separate legal existence from the individual shareholders. Who can form an Irish company?
Anybody can form an Irish company. However, there must be at least one Director and one Secretary, and one of the Directors must be a resident of the European Economic Area. You must also provide a physical Registered Office location in Ireland.
Can I form a Company with just one person?

What exactly is a company and what do the Directors, the Secretary and the Shareholders do?
A company is a separate legal entity which is made of up Directors, a Secretary and Shareholders. A Director is responsible for the day to day running and activities of the company. The Secretary is someone who is in charge of general company housekeeping duties such as making sure returns are filed on time, notifying when addresses change etc. Shareholders own the company through the holding of shares.

How long does the whole process take?
